The Product was colorless crystal or white crystalline powder with the relative density of 2.34 .The melting point was 150-190oC(decomposition).
The product had a flavor of sulfur dioxide and soluble in water with acidic aqueous solution, it was not soluble in ethanol.

the product was used for the preparation of photographic developing solution, which was also used as food bleaching agents, preservatives, antioxidants .In addition, it could be used to retain freshness of wine, fruit juice, beer clarifying agent, fruits and vegetables, meat , grapes, as well as the non-cyanide silver plating.
