In adhesive and sealing agent industry, C5 hydrocarbon resin is an important tackifier. It’s used mostly in the hot-melt adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive since it’s C5 is most suitable in those applications. C5 hydrocarbon resins are well compatible with styrene polymers, such as SIS, SBS, SEBS, SEPS, natural rubber, synthetic rubber and EVA, as well as natural tackifier (terpene, rosin and derivatives). It improves to different degrees the properties of adhesives it’s used in.
Recently, C5 resins has gradually taking the place of natural tackifier (rosin and terpene resins) due to its high peeling strength, good tack and adhesion stability, good viscosity and heat stability, good compatibility with high polymers, low price and other merits.
Characteristics: good fluidity improving wetting properties of the main material; good adhesion, esp. outstanding initial tack; excellent anti-aging properties; light in color; transparent, odorless, low volatility; in hot-melt adhesives, PR1 can be used alone as tackifier, as well as with other tackifier resins, to improve certain properties of hot-melt adhesives.
